Denise Young, Director of Human Resources at Apple, talks about the measures that the company has taken to improve the wellbeing of its employees. In their new wellness center, a team of chiropractors works with other professionals to improve employees’ health.
Those big businesses with international renown always grab our attention and many people wonder what it would be like to work for them. In the case of US companies, many of them include important benefit programs for their employees, like the one Apple recently introduced.
Denise Young arrived at her post of Director of Human Resources last February. From the first moment she investigated what the 98,000 Apple employees needed. These programs are dedicated to all workers, not just the programmers and designers that work in Apple offices. Keep in mind that two-thirds of the Apple employees work in stores. Young’s goal was to provide benefit to the largest number of employees possible. Among other measures, Apple opened a Wellness Center in Cupernito, California, in which work seven medical doctors, a large team of chiropractors, physical therapists and dieticians. “It is an experience that makes us different” said Young about the new center.
